Good morning, how was your weekend? Did you get your prep work done for the Thanksgiving holiday? We are making our plans and finalizing the menu. As I mentioned previously, I really love all of the side dishes but I also love dessert.
Last week I mentioned a few Thanksgiving desserts but today I wanted to focus on my favorite dessert pumpkin.
Pumpkin pie is my favorite dessert ever.
As I always make traditional pumpkin pie, I was thinking of branching out this year and trying something new.
Don't get me wrong, I am still going to make pumpkin pie, just in case I do not like the other options, but I feel like I should branch out, be a little open minded.
There are so many great options using pumpkin: mousse, flan, cheesecake and ice cream to name a few.
I think I may make the cheesecake that is pictured above, it is from Southern Living and I had it last year at a friends, it is scrumptious!
Then again I have wanted to try a pumpkin "dump" cake.
What will you be making?
I would love to know if you are making traditional pumpkin pie, or some other variation? For those of you that do not like pumpkin, and there are a few, what will you be making?
On a side note, did anyone watch The Dust Bowl on PBS? My father in law lived through the dust bowl, his family lost their farm and he has told me incredible stories of what it was like. Watching this documentary by Ken Burns I have to tell you that in a million years whatever I imagined was nothing compared to the years and years of suffering these people survived. It truly is a miracle that anyone did survive. If you have not had the opportunity, I highly recommend it.
I hope you have a wonderful week, enjoy your travels, your family, friends and life!

I'll take a slice of the Double ginger pumpkin flan please Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Elizabeth.....I make a pumpkin cheesecake with a chocolate cookie crust sort of like a graham cracker crust. It's always a big hit. All these desserts look wonderful. Dust bowl sounds like something the husband and I would enjoy watching and will have to see when it's on again. That's what I love about PBS you can always find a show again.

Elizabeth, may I please come to your house for dessert. These are all desserts to love. My grandson has requested pecan pie, and my mother asked for pumpkin pie.
ReplyDeleteThe Dust Bowl. I'll look to see if it is still showing. Thanks for the heads up.
Hello Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteYour deserts are all so tempting. Right now, with my afternoon tea, a sliver of the dump cake please.
We are guests at a friends ranch and she requested I bring a crunchy salas (is that not easy?) The host and I are going to sneak away and do some horseback riding on her Tennessee walking horses. We will probably not be missed till serving time, as the men will be engrossed in football.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Elizabeth, I saw the pumpkin pie with pecan topping on one of your pinterest boards. I almost makes me want to venture away from the requested pecan pie. The "Dust Bowl" documentary was a real eye opener. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know there will be many yummy things on your table.
ReplyDeleteWow Elizabeth every time I visit I leave craving something sweet and decadent. So glad I don't live near you..I would be over every day:)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very happy, healthy and wonderful Thanksgiving!
Elizabeth, the pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese frosting is one of my favorites. I have made it many times. It was on the cover of Country Living magazine years ago. The other desserts you included look delicious. I am getting hungry. I'm not cooking this year, we are going to a friend's house. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThe cheesecake.. sounds SO good and I have never had it! So many yummies here. Your home must smell wonderful as you are always baking the tastiest goodies!
