Except I am headed to Charleston, where I just "have to" indulge a little!! Stay warm - I just heard you were getting quite a bit of snow!! xoxoSandy at You May Be Wanderinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09108555245405638530noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-37351108950763986272017-01-04T15:57:12.880-05:002017-01-04T15:57:12.880-05:00Hello dear Elizabeth... I rarely feel like rolling out of bed and into the pool, but I set myself up for success by having a cup of coffee at home, first, then I head to the gym. I make myself get up before I really want to and am happy to get more done early!
Food-wise I am on the moderate track-eating lots of fruit and veggies, some protein, trying to not eat too many carbs, oh, the beloved carbs!
sansueyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05810399858534682635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-10867920546536213582017-01-04T10:31:57.249-05:002017-01-04T10:31:57.249-05:00My exercise consists of walking and swimming, as w...My exercise consists of walking and swimming, as well as hiking and climbing when opportunity allows in other seasons.William Kendallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00331324250821836822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-2803971996688684902017-01-04T08:27:38.043-05:002017-01-04T08:27:38.043-05:00Great topic and wise thoughts that not every exerc...Great topic and wise thoughts that not every exercise or eating regimen is the same for everyone. Here's what has worked for me for about 37 years:
1. eat tons of fruits and vegetables (but you see, I LOVE this stuff)
2. hydrate, especially in the morning. I am not a coffee drinker, and I know I'm a minority in that category! But the first thing I drink after waking is water.
3. eat breakfast.
4. I don't snack, never have; I simply can't eat that much since I do eat three meals.
5. listen to my body as far as when to go to sleep and when to wake.
6. exercise moderately but consistently. Walking is best these days, but I've done everything from running, dancing, etc....all in its due time, but for my older years, walking. KEEP MOVING.
7. be creative. Problem solve from deep important things to small, creative ones.
8. be happy. Laugh.
9. spend time outdoors as much as possible.
10. lay all your burdens on HIM.Castles Crowns and Cottageshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01780241008313365707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-69562687867035136762017-01-04T04:12:52.735-05:002017-01-04T04:12:52.735-05:00You are so right. I also think that deprivation is a bad thing; I like to consider it procrastination--I put off dessert for Saturdays only. It's not never--just later. That, with healthy eating, has kept me at about the same weight for 25 years.
As for exercise, even for an individual, there's no "best" for life. I've done many kinds, from Jane Fonda aerobics to biking, walking, running, yoga, "musculation" and Pilates. I'm on the third year of a Pilates/running phase. 30 mins on a stationary bike was great when my kid was little and I needed to be within hearing distance. Now being outdoors and running appeals.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-87984054388164823352017-01-04T00:22:29.491-05:002017-01-04T00:22:29.491-05:00I think you're right, you need to find exercis...I think you're right, you need to find exercise you enjoy, for me it's tennis & strength yoga, plus a lot of walking. Thankfully, I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but man, I do love to eat. I try to control the portions and savor the flavor. After letting loose for the holidays I need to get back on the regime!
