Friday Favorites from The Modern Met, Carlsbad Cravings, David Lebovitz, The Glitter Guide and More

Good morning! I hope that you have had a great week. I have been a slug, catching up on a little work, reading, staying in my pi's all day and not leaving the house unless it is absolutely necessary. Luckily I only had to leave once. I will have to go out today because we are supposed to have very cold weather next week and snow, which will shut my town down for days if we get more than an inch.

Here are a few of my favorites from the web this week.

I love champagne and love champagne cocktails even more. This Cranberry French 75 from Cooking Lessons looks like the perfect cocktail to start my New Years Eve.

If you would like to try another some other champagne cocktails than check out the 10 Champagne Cocktails to Ring in the New Year featured on The Glitter Guide

I am not a big meat eater my husband is, currently we are debating if we have pasta or a meat dish for New Years Eve dinner. so far I am loosing the discussion. If you are trying to decide which meat to serve for your dinner here are 54 of the Best Steak Recipes from Bon Appetit.

For dessert I am thinking of making this German Chocolate Cheesecake from Carlsbad Cravings, What will you be making?

If you need a warm beverage to keep you warm on these cold days try this scrumptious Fleur de Sel hot chocolate.

Or as an after dinner drink a hot steamy mug of Spiced Bourbon Hot Chocolate

If you are a fan of David Lebovitz and you would like to see him in person and have his new book signed, or would like to win a trip to Paris, check out this POST for more details.

I LOVE beautiful photographs and every single one of these Best Photos 0f 2017: Top 40 Photographs from Around World featured on The Modern Met are spectacular.

I rarely go to the movies but I think I am going to have to make an exception for The Darkest Hour with Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill. Have you seen it? Did you enjoy it?

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. Be safe, stay warm and enjoy!

  1. I saw Darkest Hour this week and highly recommend it. It covers a 3-week period in May, 1940, and Gary Oldman is very good in the part. Plenty of suspense even though we know the way things turn out, though I was not aware of all the details. It ends with the rousing "we'll fight them on the beaches" speech.

  2. oh I must add darkest hour to my list! and I am currently reading David Lebovitz' book and loving it, I will sign up!
    blessings for 2018!

  3. Happy New Year, Elizabeth!!! I am finally coming up for air after a VERY busy fall (okay, year!). One of the first things I wanted to do is to catch up on my favorite blogs. Wishing you all things wonderful for 2018!! xoxo

  4. Thanks for these links Elizabeth that choc cheesecake looks so delish calories of course lol I’m a big Winston Churchill fan, never realized his mother was American until I read his biography. I’m curious about the movie. Btw—I love the idea is staying in PJs and reading and hanging out all day. :) don’t know why i don’t do that more :)

  5. I've seen The Darkest Hour and enjoyed it. Oldman deserves the Oscar for it. I also recommend Dunkirk, which has come out on video just now. The two films, though by different directors, mesh well together.

I am rather behind on my blog reading and commenting after some severe technical issues much of the month, issues that appear to have been resolved now, so I will catch up.

    Happy New Year!
