Friday Favorites from Rachel Teodoro, the Modern Mrs. Darcy, Kitchn, and More

Good morning! Happy December! I am so excited because this is "the most wonderful time of the year." I have my trees up, I actually put them up before I left out of town for Thanksgiving, I have all of my gifts wrapped and mailed and now I can just enjoy Christmas. Which for me is all about baking, watching holiday movies, going to the botanical gardens and Christmas concerts and spending time with family and friends.

Doesn't this Short Rib Pasta from Stuck on Sweet look scrumptious? I cannot wait to make it and the best news is that it is made in the crockpot!

This White Bean Soup with Crumbled Bacon and Spiced Brown Butter is fabulous. I made it this week and I loved it.

December is a busy time getting ready for Hanukah and Christmas so why not make your life a little easier and check out 20 Quick and Easy Winter Suppers from Kitchn

One of my favorite things to eat and to serve is cheese. Here are the the best cheeses at Trader Joe's and the best cheeses at IKEA according to Bon Appetit.

I loved Rachel's post comparing two holiday gift catalogs. I think you might as well.

On that note, Jennifer Nettles country music star has taken World Vision on tour with her to call attention to this wonderful group. Are you familiar with them? I have purchased gifts from them for years and think it is a wonderful organization.

Books are a favorite gift of mine to give and receive anytime of the year, not just at Christmas. If you have a Jane Austen fan in your life check out this Gift Guide from The Modern Mrs. Darcy

I recently received a copy of InStyle Parties: The Complete Guide to Easy, Elegant Entertaining All Year Round and I love it! Although I consider myself a pretty good party planner this book showed me how to step up my game a wee bit by hosting parties for something other than the usual birthday and Christmas party. There are ideas for baby showers, summer lunches, Harvest Party, and even a Latin Fusion party. Every detail is well thought out from the invitations, cocktails, party favors, folding napkins,  easy recipes and so much more.  This is a great Christmas gift for the seasoned party giver on your list as well as the novices and will help them all throw a fabulous and memorable party!

If you pick up any women's magazine you will indubitably see an article on "self-care" this article, What Self-Care Really Means is an excellent reminder as it says that is is not all about chocolate and baths.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. Please share your recipes, book, movie, podcast and any other interesting things you found this week.
