Friday Favorites from Cafe Delites, Gimme Some Oven, Bon Appetit, and More

Good morning! I hope that you had a great week. Are you ready for the weekend? Do you have plans to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby? I have grand plans to watch the Derby while eating a couple of tacos and sipping a margarita. This year I will skip the julep.

Crispy Pork Carnitas Cafe Delites

I will be making Crispy Pork Carnitas from Cafe Delites and what is great is that they are made in a crockpot.

Classic Guacomole

Gabriella  says this is The World's Best Guacamole, so I will definitely be making this as well.

Cranberry Margarita from Gimme Me Some Oven

No Cinco de Mayo would be complete without a margarita. I don't really like the classic margarita so I am making Cranberry Margaritas the sweet, tart taste is going to be perfect.

Bourbon Chocolate Brownies

I will be making these Bourbon Brownies for dessert. They are perfect for every celebration.

Mother's day is next weekend and if you would like a few ideas for a colorful celebration this post from Lauren Conrad is beautiful.

Love this article from Bon AppetitStop Leaving the Rind Behind.

Missouri Botanical Gardens

The Biltmore will be hosting Chihuly! To see more photos check out this post by It's all in the Details. I cannot wait to see this exhibit, I have been lucky enough to see several installations in Venice, Italy, Napa, Ca, and the Missouri Botanical Gardens.

Eiffel Tower Photo taken by me.

Interesting but a little strange, The Paris of the East.

On May 22,  PBS will premier The Great American Read a series which which will reveal Americas 100 Favorite Novels. You can vote for the book that is your favorite and sometime in the Fall PBS will announce which book is Americas favorite. This is a great initiative to encourage people to read and introduce them to new books.

And last but not least, I discovered this fabulous new Instagram account Cat in France.

Please share your recipes, articles, movies or whatever else you discovered this week.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the Derby, Cinco de Mayo or whatever else you have planned.

  1. Thanks for the Cinco de Mayo recipes! They all look good--I'm bookmarking this post. Chocolate is appropriate, too, because it's thanks to the Aztecs that we have it.

  2. Some great links today, Elizabeth! Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. I love making carnitas in the crockpot! I throw in a bottle of Dos Equis...yum. And I love chocolate with Mexican food. And every food! Have a wonderful weekend celebrating, friend. xox

I'm off to iron to get rid of THAT pile!Than into my GARDEN for some DEEP BREATHS!
    Nothing to SHARE this week.......SORRY!
