Decorating for Fall & Winter with Pine Cones and Acorns

Black Transfer-ware Bowl

Good Monday morning to you. I hope that your weekend was whatever you wanted it to be, restful and cosy or wild and adventurous. Mine was a working weekend with a little rest,  although not as lazy as I would have liked it was very productive.

I am clearly a lover of pine cones and acorns, and I use them in my home at every chance I can get. I have large silver bowls filled with pine cones on the dining table, small bowls of acorns and chestnuts I have collected from places I have traveled, like Paris, Florence, Glacier National Park, and various other places. Some people bring home souvenirs I bring home pine cones, acorns and chestnuts, what can I say.

Natural decor is easy and beautiful. The soothing colors and patterns are a wonderful and inexpensive way to add a touch of the seasons to your home.

You can go out and forage with your kids or grand kids and then come home and make some pine cone garland

Or just place them in a vintage bowl with a candle or some oranges studded with cloves

Add some acorns to a vase( real or faux) and then put in your flowers and you have a beautiful Fall centerpiece.

Get out and forage on your morning walk, then glue your finds to a foam wreath, add a ribbon to hang it from and you have a beautiful and natural addition to your Fall and Winter decor.

Make some acorn garland to decorate your fireplace or to use on your Christmas tree.

I think I might try to make a few strands of this Pine Cone and Cranberry garland.  It looks very easy and requires just a few items and a little patience.

The possibilities are easy and endless, a few natural ingredients and your imagination and the sky is the limit.

Do you use natural and found elements in your design? If you do not have time to forage or are not a crafter here are a few pine cone and acorns finds.

  2. I love pine cones, but don't see many around where I live. When I lived in East Texas, there were a lot of pine trees, so many pine cones!
