Friday Favorites from Cindy Hattersley's Design, the Brick Kitchen, Made By Danica, and more.

Good morning! How was your week? I am wiped out and cannot wait for the weekend. I have been packing and purging, lugging stuff around the house, making piles for the thrift store and getting distracted looking through books and magazines that I need to thin out.

The cold weather arrived yesterday and it really feels like winter now, I think we have seen the last of our 65 degree days until May. Oh well, they were nice while they lasted. Now it is time to settle in with some hot chocolate and a pile of books, at least until I have to go pack up another room.

French Onion Soup

I love soup and one of my favorites is French Onion, I posted this recipe on my blog in 2012 and it is one of my "most pinned" recipes. I am making it today so I thought I would share it with you as well.

If you don't like French Onion soup,  Cindy of Cindy Hattersley Design is sharing her Mexican Street Corn Soup as well as 5 other bloggers favorite soup recipes. Any one of these delicious recipes are perfect for a cold winter day.

Strawberry Pomegranate Pistachio Tart

Add a touch of summer to your winter weekend with this beautiful Strawberry, Pomegranate, Pistachio Tart from The Brick Kitchen.

Interesting Books

Martina's Kitchen Mix

Martina's Kitchen Mix
is one of my new favorites, I love the photos, the recipes and the stories. I have already made several recipes and my favorite is the Cheese Tortellini with Gorgonzola Cream Sauce and Toasted walnuts, the perfect comfort food!

From the Publisher:
To country music icon Martina McBride, cooking and singing aren't all that different. When she makes something delicious, she wants to share it, which is a lot like sharing her music with an audience. When she’s not on stage or in the studio, Martina is most likely experimenting in the kitchen and cooking with family and friends. Growing up on a farm in Kansas, Martina began helping her mother in the kitchen at an early age, preparing fresh-from-the-field ingredients. Meals and stories were shared daily around the table. It’s a tradition she continues with her own family as often as she can because real life is what’s worth celebrating. In this gorgeously photographed cookbook, readers will find more than 100 simple and satisfying recipes filled with fresh, seasonal ingredients and downhome flavor.

The Southern Living Party Cookbook

I just got the Southern Living Party Cookbook and I cannot wait to throw a party! The photos are beautiful and there are recipes and drinks for every occasion, everything from Watermelon mojitos, to Pimento Cheese rolls, and brownie ice cream sandwiches.

From the publisher:
This new essential guide to entertaining is divided by occasion, offering a fresh lineup of menus and ideas from Oxford, Mississippi’s go-to caterer for every celebratory scenario life serves up. In this update to the best-selling book of our mothers’ and grandmothers’ era, Elizabeth’s tell-it-like-it-is voice provides a twist to the classic Southern advice that is a refresher for entertainers of any age or experience. Packed with delicious recipes from the original book like Smoked Salmon Canapes, Hot Cheese Squares, and Brandy Alexanders, the book also includes popular picks from the current pages of Southern Living as well as Elizabeth’s treasured recipe box.

Interesting Finds

Love this shirt and what is even better is it is only $8.00!

UGG Slippers

I LOVE slippers, especially ones that I can wear outside to get the mail or even to my morning yoga class. I have heard great things about these UGG Ansley slippers so I ordered a pair in grey, they also come in pink, black, tan and a few other colors. I will let you know how they are once I get them and wear them awhile.

For my fellow dachshund lovers, cute mug from Pier 1.

  3. That Southern Living cookbook is so pretty! I'd like to try the French onion soup one of these days. I pinned a Mexican corn recipe just the other day. Have a good weekend!

  4. It is definitely soup season, and I'm consuming my fair share. This week, it's the easiest salsa soup. :) The cookbook from Martina looks interesting - a few years back we rented a car she had just rented before us so that was fun!
