Choosing a favorite book is like choosing a favorite child....I don't think I just made that up. I must have read it somewhere...it is true though. I have been so busy knitting for my grandson I haven't been reading as much as I would like. I did read "Orphan Master's Son". I wish I could I say I loved it...I liked it. And I reread The Good Earth. I am now reading Isabel Allende's "Ripper". It is entertaining in a suspenseful way. Anything I can get my hands on that is poetry and also some French stuff.

I am waiting however, for spring. No new news on that front! I hope you are enjoying all your reads; I wish I had more time for it! My plan was to next read Goldfinch but after reading all the negative reviews on Amazon declined to order on Kindle it's difficult to choose a fav book but I'd have to say To Kill a Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby. I'm trying to stay away from reading too many blogs; I'd rather be working my way through my stack of unread books before spring hits. sandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17355232032181406759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-38192601365799788702014-03-04T15:07:24.945-05:002014-03-04T15:07:24.945-05:00I haven't had time to read lately, but I love ...I haven't had time to read lately, but I love it and can't wait to get back into it :)
StacyStacy CUrranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06388632272324504350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-14127549647989945542014-03-04T13:49:02.814-05:002014-03-04T13:49:02.814-05:00I too am among the ones too that wile away the hou...I too am among the ones too that wile away the hours reading blogs. I say I am not going to sign up for anymore, but then find a link to another one that looks so interesting. What did we do with our time before blogs and FB I wonder!
I agree that is so hard to narrow it down to just one book as the best I have ever read...but I really really loved The Help. It took me back to my childhood growing up in the South. I just finished The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg and it was very good. I enjoyed it so much that I am going to read all of her books. She as you most likely know, wrote Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe. I love her humor. Another book I really liked was Whistlin' Dixie in a Nor'easter by Lisa Patton. She has 3 books out in this series and she is very funny.
As much as I am glued to my pc...I have to say having a book in my hand is so pleasing and I need to do that more often. I hope they never do away with books and newspaper in my time.
Thank you for this post so that we all can find great suggestions for books to read.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07859073955391220569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-4100383813734600402014-03-04T13:48:45.992-05:002014-03-04T13:48:45.992-05:00Love your name :)Love your name :)elainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07831725089160480186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-50011429374407947662014-03-04T12:30:10.432-05:002014-03-04T12:30:10.432-05:00Hi Elizabeth,

I have read a lot of cookbooks and books about how to eat, but lately I have been enamored with tea and the lovely tea books by Victoria.
SherryThe Charm of Homehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15510594223746911615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-39831368357785927622014-03-04T11:24:02.038-05:002014-03-04T11:24:02.038-05:00Hi Elizabeth, I had to laugh when I read your post...Hi Elizabeth, I had to laugh when I read your post about being distracted by blogs because I am supposed to be paying online for my son's upcoming tests and as usual I am distracted by visiting my favorite blogs! I have been known to leave the computer after a while and then an hour later remember that I never did what was my original intention because of my distractions! Haha. Well sometimes we all need to be taken away to a different place now and then :)
As far as reading goes, I am rereading Tuesdays With Morrie at the moment. It is an easy read that you could finish in a day but I am making a point to only read a bit each day so I can really ponder and absorb the messages that Morrie is presenting, through Mitch Albom's book. It is such a hectic time and so easy to be distracted and overwhelmed by the daily responsibilities so I am enjoying going through these lessons again. Not to mention it also gives me a little more patience to deal with this LONG winter we are having... I am across the lake from you in Michigan. ( We unfortunately are not that close to Lake Michigan but it is our favorite Great Lake to visit each summer if we can )
Well I could continue to list some other books but I guess I need to pay those testing fees before I forget again ;)
Have a wonderful day elainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07831725089160480186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-8478571011597129242014-03-04T11:17:23.319-05:002014-03-04T11:17:23.319-05:00Hi Elizabeth, yes I understand the distraction of ...Hi Elizabeth, yes I understand the distraction of the internet and I am trying to limit my time spent there because I also enter that rabbit hole and so much time goes by! I Recently read The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt and can truly say it is one of the best books I have read in recent years. I am now reading The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer and really enjoying it. Best book ever read? Hmmm...a tough question. I would narrow it down to several favorites: To the Lighthouse and Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, Howards End by E.M. Forster, The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton, and Excellent Women by Barbara Pym. Happy reading!!!Sunday Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13148090705938196599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9010931580827952387.post-73966063142869587082014-03-04T11:03:25.803-05:002014-03-04T11:03:25.803-05:00At the moment I'm reading academic papers... t...At the moment I'm reading academic papers... this time of year marking them gets seriously underway.William Kendallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00331324250821836822noreply@blogger.com
